Back in August of last year I decided to really figure out this whole creative entrepreneur thing.
In the past, I've started (and abandoned) half a dozen blogs, newsletters, YouTube channels, podcasts, and other creative projects, with nothing to show for it but experience.
I saw everyone around me growing large audiences of passionate fans, launching new creative projects to tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars, and having a massive impact on the world through their work.
I, on the other hand, was tired, frustrated, and dissatisfied. While I had a full-time income from something I loved, I felt like I wasn't contributing in the way that I knew I was capable of.
Maybe you've felt the same way - ready for something new, wanting to leave a job, or just have enough motivation to try something you've always wanted to try.
But, instead of taking action, you've let impostor syndrome stop you in your tracks. Who are you to try that thing, anyway? Or possibly you've sat, dreaming and wishing and hoping...and waiting.
Waiting to be picked. Waiting for the right time. Waiting for the resources you need to magically appear.
But month after month, nothing changes.
I know those feelings deeply, I lived through that reality for years.
But finally, I reached a tipping point - a moment where I wasn't willing to let the status quo be the status quo any longer.
I wanted to figure it out, so I started. I chose to write a new book, document the process, and try to grow my audience and my revenue in the process.
I knew I had to figure out where I was starting from, where I wanted to get to, and that I needed to figure out how to get there.
I had some amazing mentors - both in person and through books and courses and videos - who helped shine a light on the path.
I gained clarity, new perspective, and felt empowered that I could change my circumstances.
Along the way I documented everything, then went back to my decade+ of notes on creative work, and it all started to align.
I could see a system emerge that I had never seen before, and I knew what I had to do to get the outcomes I wanted for myself and my business:
I had to help others to succeed in their lives and businesses.
Since that uncertain beginning, the business that I created that had a name added a purpose, and a mission.
To help creators build resilient, profitable businesses that supported their creative work.
I built courses, tested the system through coaching and consulting, published my book, launched a new podcast, and wrote tens of thousands of words on the subject of creative entrepreneurship.
And, what I'm most excited about, is the community that has emerged with other creators on the same path as I've been on.
I call that community the Society of Indepentent Creators.
We have individuals who are still discovering what they want to do and where they want to go, those who are in the trenches learning the craft and improving every day, and those that have reached mastery and are here to help others.
Creative work can often be lonely. But you don't have to do it alone.
If you, too, desire to do creative work at a higher level, to make more revenue and reach more people with your art, your words, your music, your products, then you should join us.
The Society is for you if:
- you want to do creative work for a living
- you haven't figured out what that work is yet, or how to monetize it, or how to grow your audience
- you want to learn from those that have build successful creative businesses
- you want to contribute to a group that, in return, will support you, hold you accountable, guide you, and - in the near future - even invest in you.
Over the next year you can take your time going through all of the information we have on how to create a successful creative business, starting from zero. There are courses, spaces dedicated to different topics, and dozens of other creators to connect with and learn from.
And, if you want a jump-start, you can join us for the 10k Creator Challenge at the beginning of 2023. If the timing doesn't work, you'll have access to watch all of the material later when you are ready.
Consider this your personal invite to the Society of Independent Creators. If you've read this far, I can confidently say that this is what you're looking for, and we'd be lucky to have you.
You'll want to join now, as the price goes up on December 1, 2022 with the public launch of the 10k Creator Challenge 2023.
